In 1982 Robert and Jill Cox began selling solid wood roll top desks out of their home in Earlysville, VA under the name, “Tomorrow’s Antiques”. As the demand for these desks grew and grew the business was moved to the downtown mall underneath the old Hardware Store Restaurant in 1983. After splitting the space with a friend selling log homes for some time, in 1985 the business was moved to Route 29 behind the Flaming Wok restaurant. At the time James and Burnadette Cox (Robert’s parents) began to work part time at the store. In the fall of 1988 a brand new building was completed and the business was again moved to a larger location on Route 29 near the waffle house, where it remains today. In 1992 we changed our name from “Tomorrow’s Antiques” to “Classic Furniture”. We always loved the cleverness of the name but it was many times lost on people who thought we sold antiques. The new building was shared with

with Kinko’s copies until 2000. At this time in 2000 the Mattress Gallery was opened. Around the same time a Clearance Center was opened back up at the old location behind the Flaming Wok. In 2005 coinciding with closing of Gilmore Hamm and Snyder we acquired the Stickley line of furnishings and expanded our main location once again. In the summer of 2007 our newest expansion was completed with the addition of a new, second store, Essentials by Classic Furniture on Greenbrier Drive. We are thankful for the patronage of our customers and we have enjoyed serving them. Lord willing we look forward to years ahead and generations ahead serving your needs for furnishings, mattresses, and friendship. Most of all we hope and pray we operate our business in such a way that brings honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
